Jeju, Korea (Honeymoon Day 2/10)

Day 2 (13 Oct 2013) - Seoul to Jeju

Flight
On second day, we decided to go Jeju. One of the reason is because the domestic flight only allows 15kg maximum allowance for check-in luggage. Hence we should go there before shopping spree in Seoul.
We decided to take Jeju Air via Gimpo Airport which only took about 1 hour journey from Seoul to Jeju. Reason for choosing Jeju Air was due to promotional fare during that period at KRW 100,800 per pax. However please note that the Jeju Air's website only accept certain computer systems. I tried my personal computer, office computer and both were unsuccessful to purchase the tickets and i finally used my colleague's computer to purchase the tickets.

Once we reached Jeju, we took taxi to our hotel as public bus in Jeju is not as convenient as in Seoul.

Hotel - Hotel W

We reached the hotel before 12 noon and the staff allowed early check-in which is very good.

Review: The hotel is tucked not far from the main road and there are plenty of restaurants from walking distance. The room was clean and very spacious. I love the bathroom, not only it is spacious but also its toilet bowl is auto flush with warm temperature setting, very good for cold weather. However please note that the divider between bathroom and bedroom is a large mirror. However there was a curtain to close the window.

Food - Random restaurant

Once we put our bags, we explored the surroundings to find place for our lunch but most of the shops were closed.

Review: I like the setting of the restaurant as it was Korean style where we sit on the floor instead of the chairs. I love the food, the fish that we ordered was very fresh and very generous in the meat.I figured that the place must be catered for tours as they have a very big parking lots.
They also served a lot of side dish.
Look at the food that we ate......we were super full...

Places to visit
1) Jeju Love Land (제주러브랜드)
Jeju Love Land is a theme sculpture park based on sensuality and eroticism. The spacious park (39,667m²) is home to over 140 sculptures (40 within the gallery and 100 outside). The park as a whole looks like a piece of land art.
Please refer to its website found in http://www.jejuloveland.com/eng.html for more details.

Directions: took a taxi to go there as it is not that far from our hotel.

We took a lot of pictures there as it was something that we wont be able to find in other places. Here are some of the pictures taken (some of the pictures might be disturbing for those underage). Ooo and 1 more thing, please try their Orange Ice Cream, its super refreshing and it has real fruit taste.

2) Yongduam Rock (Dragon Head Rock - 용두암)
Yongduam was created by strong winds and waves over thousands of years. However, there are plenty of other stories of how it came to be. One legend has it that a dragon stealing precious jade from Mt. Halla was shot down by an arrow from the mountain deity. When he fell down on Yongduam, his body immediately sank into the ocean and his head rapidly froze looking at the sky. Another legend has it that a white horse, who dreamed of being a dragon and ascending to the sky, came to be caught by a soldier and froze into the rock.

Address: Yongdamroteo-ri Yongdam-2dong, Jeju-si, Jeju-do
제주 제주시 용담2동 용담로터리 인근 바닷가

Directions: took another taxi
Food - Dombedon (Black Pork Jeju돔베돈)
Its dinner time and we decided to proceed to the famous Black Pork Restaurant in Jeju. Some said you have not been to Jeju if you do not eat the Black Pork.

Address: 25, Gwandeong-ro 15(sibo)-gil, Jeju-si, Jeju-do
제주특별자치도 제주시 관덕로15길 25 (건입동)

Review: The pork was well-marinated and very tender. It was a very good dinner and my parents love it too. When we were about to finish the meat, we could ask the staff to add the rice to the BBQ plate for our fried rice. The fried rice tasted super good, i guess it was because of the BBQ sauce from the pork.

Thank you for reading my first day in Jeju, second day in Jeju could be found in the next blog.
