Most of the girls love surprises and some prefer DIY stuff. I could consider myself lucky because I receive both from my hubby since we were together…from a sudden visit after my part-time classes to handmade flowers (because I told him that flower is a waste of monies).Freddy as usual texted me to check if I would be working late that day. I told him that I would probably knock off later. He replied okay and around 7pm, he texted me that he was at AMK Hub so we could have dinner together. (It was not the first time he suddenly appear near my client’s place for having dinner with me, so I was not suspicious of him).
So I decided to pack and met him for dinner at AMK Hub. He did not show any sign of urgency as he asked if I want to walk around for a while. But I was too lazy to walk around and decided to go home. He sent me home (it was not the first time he sent me home either). So ZERO suspicious.
On 8 May 2012 (Tuesday), as per other normal weekdays, I went to my client’s place (I was an external auditor). My client’s place was at Ang Mo Kio and as expected from the life of auditor, I was working beyond the office hour.
Once we reached my HDB void deck, I saw my younger sister. She suddenly blindfolded me and led me to my home. At that moment, I thought Freddy wanted to give me surprise because May 2012 was our 2nd year Anniversary. So Wedding Proposal was not in my mind at all.
When I stepped into my house…my house was dark but filled up with a lot of decorations and the love song was being played.
Finally I reached my Living room and saw a scrapbook on the table. I saw and read every single page and nearing to the end, there was…..
Without me knowing, Freddy was already standing behind me when I was reading the scrapbook. Wearing a black suit and holding flowers on his hands, he held my hand to help me to stand up. Then, he said his vows and went on his knees to propose to me. Obviously, the answer is
Thereafter, I could hear claps and cheers from my friends who were hiding whole time in my house to witness and share the most memorable day with me.
When everything was done, I was complaining to everyone that none of them hinted me and I looked so haggard. I could have put on more make-up or dress nicer if someone hinted me.
How did Freddy carry out the plan without me knowing?
1) Proposal ring
His number 1 accomplice is my younger sister.
Being someone who stay in the same house as me, she “took” my ring for size measurement.
A guy normally has different taste than a girl and he knew that. So he brought along my 2 closest people (my younger sister and my best friend) to choose the perfect ring for me.
2) Decoration
He took half day from work to decorate my house so it could turn to be a perfect place for proposal and of course with helps from my sister and housemates.
3) Witnesses
He contacted my close friends to come to my house to witness and share the memorable day. Not a single one of them gave me hint about that day.
